We’d like to introduce you to Northern Wilds Media, Inc., a full-service multimedia company based in Grand Marais, Minnesota. Begun as an informal partnership between Shawn Perich and Amber Pratt in 2003 and incorporated in 2007, Northern Wilds Media has grown by leaps and bounds. The company serves communities and businesses throughout the North Shore Corridor and employs a staff of six, as well as providing work for freelancers and contractors throughout the region. Northern Wilds Media, Inc. publishes two tabloid magazines. Our flagship, Northern Wilds, is a bimonthly dedicated to the outdoor lifestyle, with free distribution from Duluth to Thunder Bay. North Shore Highway 61, our free monthly community magazine and real estate guide, is mailed to every Cook County household. We also publish the annual Cook County Visitor Map, the North Shore Menu Guide, and in-room guest directories for motels and resorts. Our North Shore Press imprint publishes regional nonfiction books. In addition, we provide commercial design and printing services for dozens of businesses.

Outside the office, we proudly volunteer for community service. Amber is the vice chair of the Cook County Visitor’s Bureau and is a board member of the Grand Marais Area Tourism Association. Shawn is chief of the Hovland Area Volunteer Fire Department and serves on the Minnesota Forest Resources Council. Some of our staff are community volunteers, too.
